Four years ago, then president elect Joe Biden called for unity. What he was really calling for was surrender, surrender of our values, surrender of the republic our Founding Fathers meant for us. Four years later America remains divided. The difference this time around, is that those of us who would not part with their American ideals are in the ascendency. The cult of victimhood, collectivism, and cultural Marxism has peaked, if it’s not already in decline. They have been weighed and measured and have been found wanting. That is not enough, they have to be irradicated from world of viable political philosophies. To do that, they must be replaced by the ideals they have supplanted. More than that, those ideals have to be cultured and developed.
The pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have to be not just restored but enabled. Every law, executive action, and declaration established by the incoming Trump Administration and the new Congress must be in pursuit of one or more of these. Nothing, nothing, should be done that doesn’t either increase the citizen’s ability to live and be healthy, protect our natural rights, or make the citizen more prosperous though honest dealings. We have, starting on January 20th a very small window of opportunity, to make headway on all these fronts. The Republicans have two years to reverse the damage done in the last four and proceed to make gains. Doing this will buy them another two years, then another two, and so on.
Socialism, Leftism, wokeism, whatever you want to call it, is in decline, but will not disappear. They will be waiting in the wings for an opportunity to return. They held great power, they lost much of it, they will want it back. It’s just that simple. Just like diseases once thought dead like polio and smallpox will probably survive in just enough hosts to make a comeback the minute, we let our guard down, so too will the destructive ideologies inspired by Marx and his ilk. The best way to inoculate ourselves against such things is to seriously pursue sensible conservative and libertarian policies. The best way to prevent the return of leftism in any of its forms is to allow for the greatest amount of true peace and prosperity. This will take more than talking, it will take governing. The people we elected for saying conservative things must now do those conservative things.
The best way to reunify the country under the idea of American Exceptionalism again is to make American Exceptionalism a tangible thing, something the ordinary American can see and touch, and experience though the five senses. It has to become real and something so undeniable, that any who deny it would be scoffed at. If we manage to successfully restore life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness sufficiently in the next few years, then people will naturally unite under one banner, a star spangled one.
