God willing, precious few Americans will have to make the ultimate sacrifice on future battlefields. If they do, pray that what they fight for are the values that patriots 250 years ago risked their blood and treasure for. Pray that what they are asked to give their lives for are those same things that our founding generation fought for. In the meantime, we thank all those who have made the supreme sacrifice so that the ideas put down on parchment some two and a half centuries ago still endure today.
