Alright, so there is another movie out right now, and it is called Spider-Man, Brand New Day. And of course, it is a continuation of the last Spider-Man movie, and where, spoiler alert if you haven’t seen that movie, everybody forgets who Peter Parker was Spider-Man. Everybody forgets that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, and he’s dealing with the after effects of that. So in this movie, and this is the description coming from the IMDB movie database, “A forgotten Peter Parker lives alone as a full-time Spider-Man until mounting pressure triggers a dangerous change and a powerful new enemy emerges.” And of course, that is just a small synopsis of Spider-Man Brand New Day. I’ll cut to the quick, and it is a really good movie. I think this is going to be considered one of the top tier MCU movies along with, I don’t know, like Endgame and some of the Captain America movies. This is really going to be up there. This is going to be probably one of the top five movies. This is going to have staying power. For the MCU fans, this is one of the ones that fans are going to want to re-watch periodically. So this is a really good movie, it’s out now, and of course it’s a lot easier to recommend, candidly, than The Odyssey. It’s also a pretty good movie, but this is above that, in my opinion. Because it works not just as a superhero movie, which it does, it does it really well. But it also has a surprising amount of emotional depth to it.

Oddly enough, this is one of two movies currently out starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jon Bernthal, The Odyssey being the other one. This is the better of the two. The acting of all three is better. It looks great on screen. The practical, special, and CGI effects are all great. This is a good movie to see in 3D or IMAX. All the other essential movie elements are there, character development, plot, storyline. The story excels in giving the audience and emotional stake in the outcome. It makes you care about what happens to the characters.

The only downside is, if you can call it that, is it is helpful to at least have seen the last Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Having watched the Netflix, now Disney productions of Daredevil and/or Punisher shows wouldn’t hurt either. There are enough references and flashback in the movie that audience that have not seen any of these other Marvel titles will be able to catch up.

Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day good for families? Yes, it fine for families. There is a lot of violence in the movie, but no gore to speak of. It is rated PG-13 for violence and some language. It has strong themes of duty, friendship, sacrifice, and heroism.
