To hear it from some people, you’d think that America was a terrible place with a terrible history with few redeeming qualities. Some of their points are valid, but they do not give a balanced perspective on our nation. Our Founding Fathers were men of wisdom and courage who sacrificed much and were prepared to give, even more, even their lives if necessary for us to gain our independence.
Happy Birthday America!
Now under the scourge of COVID-19, it is painfully apparent that we don't have many of the freedoms we thought were guaranteed us, and the celebration of Independence Day, 2020, served as an uncomfortable reminder that freedom is not free and is not guaranteed.
This year, more than most, people who love America, especially in some parts of the country hit by strife, need to know that they are not alone. They need to know that we who love our country outnumber the mob who with do destroy it. They need to know that regardless of race, ancestry, or religion that we are all one country, one American people.
Demand you freedom this Independence Day. In many cities and towns across America, there will be no fireworks, no parades, no large gatherings, but tearing down and defacing monuments will undoubtedly be allowed.
American exceptionalism is real, celebrate it!
Liberty is the chance to use our gift of life to its fullest advantage. Without basic liberties, mankind is held back from reaching its fullest potential. That is why liberty curtailing forms of government like Communism and Socialism are immoral, or at best, amoral.
