The Democrats know they have only two viable candidates, one who has the Sword of Damocles hanging over her head, and the other an aging Senator from a small state who has little incentive to run, except for a sense of duty to his party.

The Democratic Debate Drinking Game
The rules are simple, every time during the debate one of the candidates says one of the designated words or phrases, you take a drink of your favorite adult beverage.
Towards a More Perfect Speaker
By most accounts, the Speakership is a thankless job that no one wants, including Paul Ryan. The problem for Ryan is, most of the rest of the House wants him in the job.
An ‘Inconvenient Truth’ About the 2nd Amendment
Many politicians are fine with only minor changes to our gun laws in the name of public safety, but there are others who understand exactly why the second amendment exists and for them gun ownership is a problem. The difficulty for the average American is distinguishing between the two. How then do we know?
Rubio called it on Syria, but what about Obama?
“Here’s what you’re going to see in the next few weeks: the Russians will begin to fly combat missions in that region, not just targeting ISIS, but in order to prop up Assad. News Brief: Two Catholic leaders make headlines.
In case your were hiding under a rock the last few days, Pope Francis was in North America on a whirlwind tour of Cuba, Washington D.C., New York, and Philadelphia. In Washington, he would meet another prominent Catholic, Speaker of the House John Boehner, who would stun the political scene with a surprise announcement of his resignation.
JOHN BOEHNER STEPPING DOWN
“Americans deserve a Congress that fights for opportunity for all and favoritism to none. Too often, Speaker Boehner has stood in the way. Today’s announcement is a sign that the voice of the American people is breaking through in Washington. Now is the time for a principled, conservative leader to emerge. Heritage Action will continue fighting for conservative policy solutions and we look forward to working with the new leadership team.”
Second GOP Debate part 2
As night fell on the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, the stage occupied again with this time eleven GOP hopefuls. The prime time debate was designed to be a TV show with Donald Trump its star, but it was Carly Fiorina who ended up stealing the show. Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and Marco Rubio also played prominent roles in this drama.
2nd Debate, part I
The evening’s first debate showcased the four “second tier” candidates, former Governor George Pataki, Governor Bobby Jindal, former Senator Rick Santorum, and Senator Lindsey Graham. While no one did themselves any harm, none stood out enough to earn themselves a spot on the main stage for the next debate.
Catching up on GOP politics this week…
I'm writing this having just returned to my hotel room in Greenville SC where I just got back from the Heritage Action for America "Take Back America" presidential forum. The last few days have been a little busy, of course I watched the debates on Wednesday, then it was right off to beautiful South Carolina for the event.
