JD Vance won the debate because his opponent evidently prepared for a fictional character. Waltz prepped for the “weird” JD Vance without realizing that was just an invention that the Democrats themselves had created. The JD Vance Walz prepped for was the concocted, cartoonish version of the real thing, the version they try to sell to the American public. What he got was the real JD Vance who knew the policy questions inside and out and who looked more like the person you’d want to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.
