A few years back, after a terrible SCOTUS decision to uphold the “individual mandate” in Obamacare forcing Americans into commerce I wrote an essay that raised the question “Is America Really a Free Country?” It was met with derision from some quarters. Now under the scourge of COVID-19, it is painfully apparent that we don’t have many of the freedoms we thought were guaranteed us, and the celebration of Independence Day, 2020, served as an uncomfortable reminder that freedom is not free and is not guaranteed. Also discussed a shift towards collectivism has changed the innate response of many Americans towards our acceptance of governmental edicts in the name of protecting us from coronavirus
