Quick Thoughts on Iran

  • The leaders of the regime were given every chance to do the right thing. They chose not to and they paid for it.
  • The people of Iran deserve our support. They’ve been abused and mistreated at the hands of their government. They want it to end and we should help them.
  • The anti-Trump side should consider these things before they head out to the protests:
    • The people of Iran are happy we interceded on their behalf. They’ve been begging us to.
    • The “oppressor vs the oppressed” rubric favored by the Left ought to have them marching in support of the Iranian people, rather than the regime. Women, most have all have been oppressed by the regime. Instead, anti-Israel sentiment and hatred of Trump has apparently clouded their judgement.
    • They risk ending up on “the wrong side of history,” something the Left is generally preoccupied with. If, God willing, this whole thing works out for the Iranian people and they have a liberal, secular democracy, or at least the beginnings of one, history will remember who supported direct action against the tyrannical regime, and who did not.
    • If they support Ukraine, they should be happy that Putin will lose a supplier of oil and drones.
  • Wouldn’t it be nice if for the first time in nearly 50 years, we didn’t have to worry about Iranian terror, to include that of their proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah?
