For now, though, we trade in the red and blue for the red and green to celebrate the coming of what Christians believe to be the ultimate savior, not just of a nation for a span of years, but for all souls for the span of eternity.

Easter reminds us that just as Jesus was reborn as a higher eternal form of himself, that we can and must strive to do this same. Life and freedom are the twin gifts the Creator has given to us. As one or the other becomes diminished, their restoration, rebirth, resurrection, once started becomes a force of nature.

Yes, life itself is worth defending, but life itself is not what makes us in God's image. It is freedom, the freedom to choose, and yes, to fail that is worth fighting for. It is free will, not safety that allows humans to achieve greatness.
