Nowak Death: When a bad system works perfectly

What many people are missing about the Henry Nowak tragedy, is that the officers involved followed their diversity training perfectly.

Now, after seven months, we finally have the body-cam footage of the British police officers who responded, not to a stabbing, but to an incident of racism. The fact that an eighteen year old man, Henry Nowak had been stabbed in the incident was not even of secondary importance to the attending police. They didn’t even believe him when he told them he’d been stabbed. They did believe the false claims of racism leveled by his killer, Vickrum Digwa, a Sikh man. Nowak died on the scene on or around the time they were reading him his rights.

Police officers in Britain undergo extensive “diversity training”. DEI training commonly teaches that whites are inherently racist, and the only way to overcome past discrimination against blacks and other minorities, is current discrimination against whites. “The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.”  ― Ibram X. Kendi, How to Be an Antiracist. In the U.K., police are taught they cannot be racially neutral and therefore, they must give deference to racial and ethnic minorities.

So called “Anti-racism” has been institutionalized in the British law-enforcement for decades. The problem it seems, is not that the police involved were poorly trained, it was that they applied their DEI/anti-racism training perfectly. If you take anti-racism to it’s logical extreme, you find that what happened to Henry Nowak is not a bug, but a feature of a racist system adopted by law-enforcement in England.
