It can come from a sinister place, a sadistic need to control others and delight in their misery. It is condescension made into governmental policy.

Halloween may be a scary day but 2021 may mark the beginning of a scary era for this country. The rise of authoritarianism, inflation, collectivism and shortages should scare the average American, and if the left has its way, will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

This is a move that is seen by many as an aggressive overreach on the part of the federal government into what should be local matters. This move is likely only to exacerbate the existing tensions between the left and the right. The left has over decades, and increasingly, been using higher education and the public school system as indoctrination centers.

If a school-board meeting gets out of hand, that is a matter for the local authorities. The Biden DOJ wants to literally make a federal case out of such incidents. This, as critics point out, would have a chilling effect on free speech.
